I have a custom-built PC with an Asus M5a97 R2.0 motherboard running Windows 7 64 bit. Up until the end of last week, I have encountered no problems with my USB 3.0 ports' functionality, but beginning with last Thursday, the USB 3.0 ports fail to work in Windows. They were recognized in the device manager at first and listed as functioning properly, but no devices plugged into them would be recognized by Windows despite the fact that they were receiving power, i.e. LEDs on devices plugged into these drives would light up. The ports are recognized in the BIOS, as flash drives plugged into these drives are recognized and displayed in the BIOS. I attempted to reinstall all versions of the USB 3.0 drivers for this motherboard listed on Asus's site, and none of them worked, despite being displayed on the device manager.

After several hours of troubleshooting with Asus, including flashing the BIOS to the latest version and repeated attempts to reinstall different versions of the device hardware, Asus recommended that I reinstall Windows. I formatted my Windows 7 drive and did a fresh installation, which still hasn't solved the problem. Asus made the determination that the issue was entirely software and Windows related and that they could not help me any more.
The current situation is that I have installed the earliest version of the drivers listed on Asus's website at their recommendation, and while the 2 ASMedia XHCI controllers display in the Device Manager and are listed as working properly, the 2 Generic USB Hubs associated with them are not working properly, displaying a Code 31 error. Does anyone have any advice to get these ports working once again in Windows?
