Seagate Central 5T HD connected to Network 8 Port Gigabyte switch.
Had two existing Seagate Central 4T connected to home Router (working for years).
The router has network to my office --> NetGear 8 Port Gig Switch --> Seagate Central 5T
The NetGear 8 Port Router also connects to my Windows 8 and large HP Printer
On Windows 8.1 - downloaded the Seagate DiscoveryTool_PC_v2.2.17.0.exe on the older Seagate NAS drive. Then Ran As Administrator. It ran, found the new Seagate Central NAS drive and assigned it to a V: network drive. Works great.
Failure: On Windows 7 Ultimate (fully updated) the Seagate Discovery Tool will Error after about 20 seconds.
The Windows 7 network can see the other old Seagate Central Drives on the router. It can also see the Windows 8.1 shared drives and see the HP Printer (with all of its remote scanning and features), it can also see the Smart TV and other network items short of the new Seagate Central.
The Windows 7 network has been refreshed.
